President Joe Biden, on Oct. 30, signed an executive order dubbed the “Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence.” The order deals with the regulation and research of AI and requires reporting of potential safety risks to the government. “My administration places the highest urgency on governing the development and use of AI safely and responsibly,” he wrote in the executive order. Other candidates are less sure about artificial intelligence. Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson is skeptical of AI, concerned about its potential to replace jobs and harm the economy, according to her campaign website. Republican Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is concerned about the risks involved but says we cannot ban its use. Others have decided to embrace the use of AI. Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson uses artificial intelligence to run his website, AskAsa.us. The website allows voters to ask a question and then uses AI to respond with Hutchinson’s stance on the issue. The Never Back Down PAC also used AI to generate a speech by former President Donald Trump in a recent ad supporting Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Several candidates have yet to make statements on artificial intelligence.
