The Headwaters Center for Lifelong Learning (HCLL) presents “Artificial Intelligence Explained” Tuesday, Sept. 24 at the Event Center in Park Rapids.
This program from 1 to 2:30 p.m. is free of charge, open to the public and handicap accessible.
According to a news release, “AI Revolution,” a 2024 episode of the PBS series “Nova,” asks, “Can we harness the power of artificial intelligence to solve the world’s most challenging problems without creating an uncontrollable force that ultimately destroys humanity?”
The cover of the one-hour video adds, “With the rise of ChatGPT, the world has been transfixed by the power and potential of the latest generation of AI, with its abilities to answer complex questions, write essays, generate realistic-looking images – even pass a lawyer’s bar exam – all in a matter of seconds.”
Clearly, the release says, such awesome power presents profound ethical, moral and practical dilemmas that would have been unheard-of just a few years ago.
Audience members will have a chance to comment and discuss the topic at the conclusion of the video.
Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
